Coloured aggregate can be supplied and laid. We excavate the required area of all debris and subsoil before laying geotextile fibre matting. The matting helps to prevent saturated soil from coming through. Following the matting being put in place we backfill the area with 100mm aggregrate which is then screened off using Type 1 803 scalpings. Once laid to the appropriate depth we then consolidate/compact the area.
The gray or coloured aggregate is then applied. The most popular choices are Yellow Cotswold chippings or pink aggregates.
It is important to ensure the depth of the aggregrate is correct to prevent sinkage. When the layer of aggregate is too deep it makes travelling over it very difficult, therefore we always ensure the correct depth is applied. Another advantage of having an aggregate finish is that it provides a great natural drainage system for surface water alleviation.
